May a Thousand Fleas Disappear!

I finally found out last week what are those red bites with blisters that kept appearing on my legs. At first, I thought I must have contracted some screw up disease here in China, and begin to worry daily about it. Guess what? CCB! Flea bites!

Where did all the PTNNBCCB fleas come from?

Teng Teng shares her apartment with a couple of Malaysians. One of her housemates actually owns a cat. Although cats are frowned upon in the household, it was a silent acknowledgement [close one eye] that the cat existed. We did not care much about the existence of the cat until the sudden burst of itchiness thse summer as the weather becomes hotter and hotter here in Shanghai. Then one day i got red sores appearing on my ass that I begin to worry a lot. Was it my health problems? Was it because I smoke too much? Was it because i got all this bites from some unwanted source while using the public transport in Shanghai? This worried me a lot. I bath and kept myself as clean as I can. About 3 weeks later it healed.

Of course the stigma of being bitten is that you will always want to talk about it. So I blogged. Rambling Librarian and BengBeng replied to me, telling me it could be bites and how to relieve myself of the pain. And during one mahjong session at home, I talked about it with my Kakis, and Mr JOJO, my friend who takes photographs for us nowadays told me MUST BE BITTEN BY FLEAS. PTNNBCCB, my first reaction is those of "what have i done to deserve being bitten like this" look. I told tengteng about this. She highlighted to one of the housemate in her apartment. The latter faced the cat owner and asked whether there were fleas at home, as many people were bitten but do not know what the FC*K it was. Everyone thought that the small cockroaches in China damn fierce, will bite people one. Cat owner of course denied that there were any fleas around. But after much urgings and pushing for the truth, Cat Owner's Brother finally admitted there were fleas. CB! All along they knew there were fleas in the apartment! ALL from that KNN street cat they picked up! He said anyhow look also can catch one flea. So he looked around, catch one or two, squeeze it between his fingers and thumb and a THUD POP sounds erroded.

Zzzz.. currently, I felt damn suu about this. Because in a month's time I will be moving over to tengteng's house. WE will be moving into the cat owner's room. PTNNBCCB, why I always so unlucky one?!

Aiyuh, might as well look online see what information I can find in regard to fleas. This is what I found:

1. Don't scratch those bites - I scratched already lor! How not to scratch?! Damn itchy!
2. The only way to get rid of fleas is to get rid of them totally - Get Rid of the CAT even BETTER!
3. Fleas are most active during summer and autumn when weather is hot and humid - NOW is summer!
4. 50% of fleas can be removed through vacuum cleaning - I don't have!
5. IF cat got fleas, at least comb them frequently and drops fleas into soap water to drown them.
6. Clean the bedding and where the cat sleeps - I dunno seriously whether they got clean a not past half year
7. Bath the Cat - Zzzz dun think they got lor...
8. Let the cat eat pills to prevent all the yuckies from reproducing. - Cat owner also never do.

Then what about the FLEAS themselves?

"Be diligent in your exterminating efforts. A flea pupa, while in the cocoon, is impervious to treatment and can live for eight months without feeding, and an adult female can lay one egg per hour for every hour of her life (usually three months)."

DIU LOR.. siao liao.. that means they make babies HAPPY lor.. -.-

Now I think the best solution is to get rid of the cat. Clean the place with hot water. Curb and remove as many eggs as possible by cleaning the house frequently until no more. And no more cat allowance to the apartment. Actually, I want to keep hamster after I move. Looking at the current situation, I think the hamster if I buy will also end up dead. think better not be so evil to the hamster.

Now the problem is: you keep cat okay, you don't affect so many people around you just because you want to keep a cat leh -.-

You don't comb cat keep cat clean, let it roam around the house. Now summer, all the pests will pop out make babies populate the whole house one lor..

Sigh I rest my Case.. PTUI!
